A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will remain in effect until noon today for Georgetown Lake and Homestake Pass for up to 1' of snow.
A LAKE WIND ADVISORY will remain in effect until tonight for Fort Peck Lake.
A HIGH WIND WATCH will go into effect for central and north-central tomorrow morning until tomorrow NIGHT.
A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued for central and north-central and southwest Montana tomorrow evening until Saturday NIGHT.
After a chilly start to the morning, the highs will stay in the 40s and 50s. A few morning mix rain/snow showers will linger in portions of western Montana, and the wind will howl at times. It is not until tomorrow that the wind will really increase across the region.
Tomorrow strong winds will impact portions of north-central and central Montana. West winds will be sustained between 25 to 45 mph, with gusts up to 80 mph in some areas. Strong winds could damage trees, leave power outages, and blow around loose or unsecured objects. The temperatures will climb to the 50s and 60s. The air will be warm enough for rain to fall in the lower elevations until a potent Canadian cold front drops down into the state and cool the temperatures enough that rain showers will transition into snow.
Saturday will be cloudy and colder. The temperatures will drop nearly 20 degrees in some areas. The highs will cool to the 20s and 30s in northcentral & central Montana, western Montana temperatures will stay in the 40s. The colder temperatures will bring snow showers throughout the morning. Wet roads and cold temperatures could lead to a flash freeze on road surfaces.
Sunday will be another cold, cloudy, and snowy day. It is always good to remember that if traveling under wet, and snowy conditions, give yourself enough time to make it to your destination.
