A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY has been issued for Gallatin, Broadwater, Jefferson, and Madison Counties until Tonight for snow expected above 6000' and winds gusting up to 40 mph at times.
A LAKE WIND ADVISORY has been issued for Fort Peck Lake for north winds gusting up to 30 mph.
Behind the passage of a cold front, the temperatures will cool down between 30-50 degrees, the clouds will replace yesterday's sun, the region will have widespread rain that will develop from the north, and the wind will be gusting up to 50 mph at times in some areas. The highs will only reach the 40s and 50s, and the airmass will be cold enough for snow to accumulate above 6000.' A combination of rain and snow could even fall as low as 5000' across portions of central and southwest Montana. Again, the region will have gusty winds, so if traveling across mountain passes, you may encounter areas of reduced visibility and slippery/wet roads. Take it slow, and please give yourself enough time to leave. Tonight's temperatures could leave us with near-record temperatures expected by Tuesday morning.
Tomorrow a cold airmass will linger across the state, but an area of high pressure will begin to build and assist with clearing skies and slightly warming up the temperatures. The highs will climb 10-15 degrees, but the state will remain cool. The high temperatures will only reach the 50s and 60s.
Wednesday into the weekend, the temperatures will continue to slowly warm back up. By Thursday, we will be saying Hello to the 80s.
